Meet Mike Bates
Owner, Logistics Specialist & Luxury Moving Authority
At the center of operational planning, logistics execution, and client relations at Bates Moving is Owner Mike Bates. Serving homeowners, business executives, and commercial clients across Plymouth County and the South Shore of Massachusetts, Mike brings over 14 years of dedicated moving industry experience to every relocation project. Mike leads his family-owned moving company with a clear, uncompromising philosophy: every relocation should be executed with meticulous planning, crystal-clear communication, and absolute respect for the client’s physical property and personal time.
Mike’s primary area of technical expertise centers on comprehensive household moving, white-glove luxury relocations, high-value asset handling, and complex logistics coordination. Moving a household involves far more than simply transporting boxes from point A to point B; it requires precise spatial planning, specialized packing techniques for delicate architectural or antique items, structural protection for interior walls and flooring, and synchronized timing. Mike specializes in luxury moving where extreme attention to detail is paramount, ensuring that custom furniture, fine art, sensitive electronics, and high-value heirlooms are wrapped, crated, and transported with zero damage.
Mike believes that excellent communication is the absolute bedrock of a stress-free moving experience. Relocating a home or office can be one of life’s most stressful transitions, and miscommunication between clients and movers often leads to hidden costs, broken schedules, or property damage. Mike addresses this challenge directly by establishing clear, transparent lines of communication from the initial consultation through the final walkthrough on moving day. By keeping clients fully informed, answering questions promptly, and setting accurate expectations, Mike turns complex moves into calm, predictable experiences.
Over 14 Years of Industry Experience, DPU Accreditation & Notable High-Profile Relocations
Backed by over 14 years of industry experience, Mike founded Bates Moving in 2023 to bring a higher standard of professionalism, accountability, and integrity to Plymouth County’s moving sector. As a locally owned and family-operated moving company, Bates Moving operates under strict federal and state regulatory standards. The business is fully licensed and insured, holding official certification from the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU #24HG28) and active registration with the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT #4226870), ensuring clients enjoy complete legal protection and peace of mind.
Under Mike’s leadership, Bates Moving has earned an outstanding reputation across prestigious regional communities. The company is a certified approved moving contractor for Pine Hills in Plymouth—a premier planned community with strict vendor standards for access, property care, and operational discretion. Furthermore, Mike’s reputation for reliability, security, and white-glove execution led to his team being selected to handle the official relocation of Congressman Bill Keating's office within Plymouth—a high-profile commercial move requiring strict confidentiality, tight schedules, and flawless chain-of-custody protocols.
Mike has structured Bates Moving around total price transparency and customer convenience. In an industry where unexpected add-on fees, travel surcharges, and mandatory heavy deposits are common, Mike operates with flat-rate pricing with zero hidden fees and requires no deposits for local moves. Active members of the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce, Mike and his team offer free estimates and treat every customer like a long-term neighbor, providing the highest standard of care whether moving a modest apartment or a multi-million-dollar luxury estate.
